Participants: Open to artists, artisans, activists, scientists, members of indigenous communities, migrants and the general public.
SUNDAY, JUNE 24

Venue: KZNSA GALLERY & PARK
Field work session with participants whose purpose is to revisit the city of Durban.
– A community that safeguards Zulu knowledge, preferably that includes an artisan production center, beliefs, temple, dances. This Zulu heritage could be even mixed. It would be preferable if this community is not a native reserve.

About Cecilia Vilca:
She holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Arts from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain and a Graphic Design Degree from School of Design Toulouse-Lautrec, Lima, Peru. She earned a grant awarded in GIS and Atlas Design at Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC)-University of Twente, The Netherlands. She performs her artistic activity with technology in speech and materialization, and explores its relationship with gender, society and nature. Her projects range from those that are built with public participation and interactivity, which reflect through and from the massive technological devices to those that combine scientific methods such as electron microscopy and cartography. Projections, installations and applications that reveal through the technology, procedures, behaviors and information that we believe natural or that we do not perceive at first sight. This aspect of technology is fundamental to her and constitutes her poetics, a poetic of revelation. She has a deep commitment to the cultural heritage of his country Peru. In that sense she has founded and is in charge of PatriaLab a division of MyAP (Electron microscopy laboratory) dedicated to develop this kind of projects. Lately she has an approach in living heritage and communities, as well as to work with performers and movement. She is interested in interdisciplinary projects with teams from different countries and professional background. She has exhibited organized exhibitions and lectured in Peru, Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina, Spain, Cuba, Chile, Norway, Brazil and Colombia.
